The Desert Foxes Prestige Points is an inter-organization competition open to any club member that enters a USCF sanctioned bicycle race.  This includes all race team members (A Squad and B Squad members) as well as any club member purchasing a single day license.   The only requirement to point qualification is it must be in category 4 and not an age graded category.

Every Arizona race*, and a few designated regional and national events are issued point values.  The point values correspond with GC placement per event or stage.  A sample of the 2003 race calendar with each race's point value can be found here.  As an example, the Tucson Bicycle Classic is worth 300 total points.  50 points for the prologue, 100 per stage and 50 extra points for finishing all three stages. A Prestige Points table for TBC can be found here.

In order to receive points, a rider MUST finish the event or stage.  The only exception is when acting in the best interest of the team or squad, such action renders a rider unable to complete the event or stage. Under these circumstances the rider will receive the same point value as the lowest placed Desert Foxes rider in that event. For example; during a stage race a rider gives a wheel to the team leader to complete the stage and not jeopardize the team leader's GC standing.  If that wheel is not repairable and causes a DNF to the assisting rider, that rider qualifies for the points of the lowest placed Desert Foxes member that finishes the event.

At the end of the season the top three point leaders will receive a prize.

The purpose of establishing the Prestige Points is to encourage racers to enter a maximum number of races affording them maximum points throughout the season, over having to place high in a minimum number of races.
